Opening DropDuo on your Mac

DropDuo is free to download. The Mac app isn't signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized by Apple yet, so macOS may block the first launch.

  1. Download the ZIP for your Mac, extract it, and move DropDuo.app to Applications.
  2. Try opening DropDuo once. If macOS says the developer cannot be verified or Apple cannot check it for malicious software, dismiss the alert.
  3. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, and look for the message about DropDuo.
  4. If you trust this download, click Open Anyway when available, authenticate if asked, then click Open in the next prompt.

Your browser may ask to open System Settings. If the button doesn’t open the right pane, follow the steps above. Open Anyway appears only after a blocked launch and may be unavailable on a managed Mac. This button opens settings; you choose whether to allow DropDuo. For a “will damage your computer” or “damaged” alert, stop and report it instead of using these steps.

Public code. Open to contributions.

DropDuo is open source under the MIT license. Anyone can inspect the code, build it themselves, report issues, or propose improvements. Transfers stay on your local network, with no account, cloud uploads, ads, or analytics. Open source lets you inspect how it works; it does not replace Apple notarization or an independent security review. DropDuo has not had an independent security audit.
